Ferrari celebrates its heritage with F12tdf
The Italian car manufacturer announces the debut of its new model, the limited edition F12tdf.
The name of this new model “tdf” pays tribute to the many victories that the brand enjoyed in the Tour De France Automobile in the ’50s and ’60s.
Ferrari will unveil its new model at the same time that the Tour de France Automobile celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2016. Back in the ’50s, the race was an internationally recognised competition that hosted the world’s best drivers.
The new F12tdf presents more curves than the previous models. The brand continues to amaze in its perpetual quest for the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality in a sports car.
“In terms of the formal design language, the objective was to create a sophisticated interaction between the sculptural surfaces of the F12berlinetta and a more graphic treatment of the various new aerodynamic features,” explains the brand in a statement.
The Ferrari F12tdf, which was totally reworked from a technical point of view, boasts of various improvements that allow it to achieve unprecedented performance.
Its V12 engine power has been enhanced from 740hp to 780hp – the closest you can get to a Formula 1 engine – and is capable of 8,500rpm.
It can go from 0 to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200km/h in 7.9 seconds, while its maximum speed exceeds 340km/h. The abundant use of carbon fibre ensures a lighter – hence faster – car.
The aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle is impressive. The front bumper has a lower section that incorporates a separator inspired by racing cars, plunging platforms, wings floor and slots.
The Ferrari F12tdf has an innovative rear-wheel steering system that adjusts automatically according to the vehicle speed, the steering wheel angle and speed commands.
The first deliveries of the F12tdf should begin in early 2016. A limited edition release, only 799 vehicles of the F12tdf will be produced.
