Bentley’s love affair with the Middle East

Catering to Middle Eastern customers’ high demand for ultra-luxurious, yet powerful cars, Bentley has been strengthening its footprint across the region.

While Saudi Arabia and the UAE are two of the brand’s strongest dealerships in the region and internationally, Bentley chose the 2015 Qatar Motor Show, held earlier this February, to introduce its latest flagship model, the Mulsanne Speed, in a possible move to centralise focus on other Gulf countries.

“Deliveries increased last year by seven per cent and were led by the Flying Spur W12… We enjoyed a successful year in terms of sales in 2014 and are looking forward to what we have coming up in the next twelve months,” Neil Wilford, Bentley Motors’ regional manager for the Middle East, India and Africa, tells Aficionado in his comments about the British carmaker’s operations in the region.

The Mulsanne Speed is “the faster sibling of the original flagship Mulsanne,” according to Wilford. It is expected to reach the British carmaker’s dealers in the region within the first half of 2015, with a prestigious price range starting at AED1.8 million in the UAE.

During the regional debut in Qatar, Kevin Rose, board member for sales and marketing at Bentley Motors Ltd, said: “With 537 PS (530 bhp/395 kW), 1,100 Nm (811 lb.ft) and selectable sports suspension and steering on demand. This car combines an imposing appearance with the substance to support its style.”

Additionally, the Middle East’s markets are expected to receive the Bentley Continental GT3-R, of which only 300 models are being made for 2015.

“This will make a very welcome addition to the range of Bentley Continental ‎models, available to our Middle East customers,” Wilford said.

This regional debut came one month after Bentley introduced its Mulsanne Majestic, a model limited to 15 units, strictly for distribution in the Middle East. According to the brand, the Mulsanne Majestic is only available at dealerships in Saudi Arabua, Qatar and the UAE.

“Our customers are pre-dominantly residents and deliveries grew across all of the key Middle East markets last year… these prestigious positions are testament to the desirability of Bentley with Middle Eastern ‎customers who understand and appreciate world-class automotive craftsmanship and the unique combination of ‎performance and luxury that Bentley offers,” notes Wilford.
