Saudi Arabia stands as Dubai’s primary tourism source market for H1 2014, followed by India and the UK, Dubai Tourism reveals.

The emirate recorded the highest number of overseas visitors to date in H1 2014, having welcomed more than 5.8 million travellers during the same period. “The figures show an increase in visitors from many of our key source markets – for example, we are seeing strong growths from China, Brazil, Australia and many countries in Europe,” says Helal Saeed Almarri, director-general of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, in a press statement.

For H1 2014, Dubai’s top tourism source markets are Saudi Arabia, India, the UK, the US, Russia, China, Iran, Oman, Kuwait and Germany; of which Chinese visitors to the emirate registered an increase of 26 per cent, according to Dubai Tourism.

“The UK, the GCC, Russia and Germany remain The Jumeirah Group’s leading source markets. China is demonstrating a significant double-digit growth of 31.1 per cent from last year,” adds Gerald Lawless, its president and group CEO.

It’s also worth noting that the list remains fairly unchanged when compared with 2013.
