Etihad butlers to receive Savoy Academy training

Etihad Airways Butler Trainees

Etihad Airways’ 13 in-flight chefs and F&B managers are undergoing training at London’s Savoy Butler Academy to serve first class passengers in The Residence by Etihad.

The three-week training programme, conducted by the University of West London and the Savoy Hotel, will cover topics such as food and beverage service standards, international protocol and etiquette, VIP guest care and how to organise travel arrangements, among others, thereby combining the skills of both a concierge and maitre d’hotel.

“We are tremendously proud to be sending out first talented crew members for training at the Savoy Butler Academy in London,” says Aubrey Tiedt, vice-president of guest services at Etihad Airways. “This marks their initiation into a very select group of highly trained hospitality professionals and is testament to Etihad Airways’ aim to be the best and to provide high levels of discretion, dedication and sophistication hitherto not experienced by the modern airline traveller.”

The Residence by Etihad, a newly launched luxury three-room offering comprising a living room, private en-suite bathroom and a bedroom, is being introduced to ten Airbus A380s; the first of which will enter service between Abu Dhabi and London on December 27.
