Hilton pushes for further global expansion

Hilton Worldwide, the American global hospitality company, is looking to further expand its offerings in order to remain the world’s fastest growing hospitality company.

Christian Grage, the brand’s vice president of operations for the Arabian Peninsula, forecast that the global brand would open one hotel roughly every two months over the next five years, given the current speed at which developments and construction are going.

Earlier this year, after completing one year of its successful IPO, Hilton Worldwide entered 2015 as the leading hospitality company for the number of rooms currently supplied, the number of rooms under construction and the number of developments in the pipeline.

There are 19 Hilton hotels in the Arabian Peninsula, with an additional 13 currently in development, which are scheduled to open over the next two years.

Hilton Worldwide is an umbrella under which 12 different brands operate. These are: Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Double Tree by Hilton, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Homewood Suites By Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton, Hilton Grand Vacations and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts.

According to Grage, the aggressive development efforts have naturally come to serve the unique identities of the brands.

“If we have a look at Dubai alone, we have seven operations in place and another eight that are developing over the coming two years, out of which six are in the upscale market,” Grage told Aficionado during an interview on the sidelines of the Arabian Travel Market, held in Dubai last week.

Hilton recently announced plans to open Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Qusais, marking the debut of the mid-market hotel brand to the Middle East.

The announced project would create the largest Hampton under development anywhere in the world. This marks an addition to the other Hilton properties, such as the Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Al Garhoud (also recently announced), Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Al Mina and Hilton Garden Inn Dubai Al Muraqabat, all of which are currently under development.

Over the past two years, Hilton opened two Waldorf Astoria Collection resorts in the UAE: one in Ras Al Khaimah and on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.
